Hey guys, this is 100% correct. Listen to the song for timing. I'll put the lyrics and
order at the bottom. By the way, this is my first tab. :)
Tuning: Standard
For this riff i usually slap my thumb against the E, just for that funky feel.

This is a great catchy tune off the Continuum record. The other tabs for this song are
but this tab is for those of us without a full band behind us and play on acoustic.

I play this song without a pick and use all fingers on my right hand. Don’t be afraid to
a nice jazz groove going on…:)

Verse 1
F#m – C#m7, F#m - C#m7- C#m7
Some of us, We're hardly ever here
The rest of us, we're born to disappear
How do I stop myself from
Being just a number
How will I hold my head
To keep from going under
Chorus
A
Down to the wire I wanted water but
B
I'll walk through the fire If this is what it takes
A
To take me even higher Then I'll come through
B
Like I do When the world keeps
Testing me, testing me, testing me
Verse 2
How did they find me here
What do they want from me
All of these vultures hiding
Right outside my door
I hear them whisperin
They're tryin to ride it out
Cause they've never gone this long
Without a kill before
Chorus
(feel free to rock out a nice solo in C#m)
Verse 3
Wheels up
I got to leave this evening
Can't seem to shake these vultures
Off of my trail
Power is made, by power being taken
So I keep on running
To protect my situation
Chorus
(play verse/intro guitar part until fade out)
Oooooooooooo
Oooooooooooo
Oooooooooooo
Oooooooooooo
Whatcha gunna do about it
Whatcha gunna do about it
Whatcha gunna do about it
Don't give up give up

This is John Mayer's "Vultures" from "Where the Light Is" Its a very tricky song but the tab is very accurate. I've played with the CD, and I also recommend a metronome. I tabbed everything In 4/4 measures.
My other tabs from "where the light is" are Who did you think i was (version 4) I don't need no doctor (version 6) Out of my mind (whole song)
Ps: T means to use thumb of the low E-string. The whole song is done with fingers.(no pick)
These measures are played for the verses and the chorus. I've watched many videos and it seems like this is the exact way he plays this part. [Intro/Verse 1/Chorus] E|---------------------------------|------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------|------------------------------------| G|-----------------13v---16--------|-----------------13--13---16--------| D|---14--16--------14v---16--------|---14--16--------14--14---16--------| A|---14--16---16--------------16---|---14--16---16----------------16----| E|---------------------------------|------------------------------------|
This is a nice riff that he occasionally plays instead of the second measure. E|--------------------------------------------| B|--------------------------------------------| G|-----------------13--------13---16----------| D|---14--16--------14--------14---16----------| A|---14--16---16--------16-------------16-----| E|--------------------------------------------|
Solo 1 "When the world keeps testing me, testing me, testing me" E|----------------------------|--------------------------------------| B|----------------------------|--------------------------------------| G|---13v------------13v-------|---13v-------------------------14v----| D|---14v---16-------14v---16--|---14v---16-----------14--16----------| A|---------16-------------16--|---------16----14/16------------------| E|----------------------------|--------------------------------------|
Solo 2 I hear some sort of reverb or delay here. This solo is a tough one, and I recommend listening to the song at 50% speed. E|---------------------|--------------------------------|-------------------------| B|---------------------|--------------------------------|-------------------------| G|---16b--15b----------|---14b------------14---16b-16b--|---13v-------------------| D|--------------16-16--|--------16v-16v-----------------|---14v---16p14--16v------| A|---------------------|--------------------------------|-------------------------| E|---------------------|--------------------------------|-------------------------|
E|-----------------------------------------------------------|--------------------------------| B|-----------------------------------------------------------|--------------------------------| G|------13-13-----14------14------14-------------------------|---14b--16------13v--16---------| D|---x--14-14--x--14h16---14------14-------14----------------|---14b--16------14v--16---------| A|----------------------------16------16---16p14---------x---|------------16-----------16\----| E|------------------------------------------------17p14------|--------------------------------| T
"Wheels up" (delay/reverb off) E|--------------------------------|---------------| B|--------------------------------|---------------| He stops playing here G|---14--16------13--13--16-------|---------------| and sings a couple of D|---14--16------14--14--16---16--|---16\---------| measures with only drums A|-----------16---------------16--|---16\---------| and bass. E|--------------------------------|---------------|
He starts playing again. "Power is made..." E|---------------------------------|------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------|------------------------------------| G|-----------------13v---16--------|-----------------13--13---16--------| D|---14--16--------14v---16--------|---14--16--------14--14---16--------| A|---14--16---16--------------16---|---14--16---16----------------16----| E|---------------------------------|------------------------------------|
He plays the chorus annd the "ooh ooh ooh" thing with the main riff. The next section he sings "don't give up" and does a riff afterwards.
"Don't give up..." E|----------------------| B|----------------------| G|---------------13v----| D|---14--16------14v----| A|---14--16--16---------| E|----------------------|
Lick 1 E|------------------------------------------------------------------| B|------------------------------------------------------------------| G|------14------14b--14v--------------------------------------------| D|---16----16--------------16p14------16--14------------------------| A|--------------------------------16------------------14------------| E|---------------------------------------------17p14------17p14-----| T
"Don't give up..." E|----------------------| B|----------------------| G|---------------13v----| D|---14--16------14v----| A|---14--16--16---------| E|----------------------|
Lick 2 E|--------------------------------------------------------| B|---16bv---16p14-------14--------------------------------| G|-----------------16------14---16p14---------------------| D|------------------------------16p14---------------------| A|-------------------------------------16p14--------------| E|--------------------------------------------17b--14-----| T
"Don't give up..." E|----------------------| B|----------------------| G|---------------13v----| D|---14--16------14v----| A|---14--16--16---------| E|----------------------|
"Don't give up..." "Don't you dare..." E|----------------------|----------------------| B|----------------------|----------------------| G|---------------13v----|---------------13v----| D|---14--16------14v----|---14--16------14v----| A|---14--16--16---------|---14--16--16---------| E|----------------------|----------------------|
At this point he's done with vocals and the rest of the track is soloing. This solo is very tricky. I would recommend playing with a metronome because time-keeping is very important in this part. I did my best to tab it out in 4/4 measures. E|------------------------------|-----------------------------------------| B|------------------------------|--------------16-----14------------------| G|---------------13v--16--------|--------------14--x------x--16--14-------| D|---14--16------14v--16--------|---14--16-----14--x--16--x--16------16---| A|---14--16--16-----------16\---|---14--16--14----------------------------| E|------------------------------|-----------------------------------------|

This may look very confusing, but just keep practicing and you will get it.
